VISIT OF THE FRENCH FLEET
GREAT ENTHUSIASM. (Received 11th, 12.50 a.m.) LONDON, August 10. After the review King Edward lunched aboard the Massena. In responding to Admiral Caillard's toast of his health, he hoped the officers and men, would be satisfied at the welcome given by their comrades ~>£ the British fleet. Dense masses of spectators for miles, despite the rain, watched the subsequent berthing of the French ships', where no foreign war ships except a few American, ever berthed before, and the enthusiasm was great. The Prince of Wales presided at the Admiralty's banquet to Admiral Caillard and officers at the Royal Naval Barracks in the evening.
