Masonic Ball.
A BRILLIANT! FUNCTION.
The Oddfellows' Hall last night was the scene of a brilliant assemblage occasioned by the holding of a Masonic ball, by the members of the institutions at Thames. The arrangements were elaborate and complete in every detail, and reflected the greatest credit on the capabilities of the committee, Messrs M. Paul, G. Cullen, A. Burns, W. Bane, A." S. Ensor, G. Wa,rne, G. {Paul, A. G. Lefevre, and W. S. Clark (secretary)? The interior of the hall was veritably transformed and presented a festive appearance. The walls were disguised in an artistio arrangement of nikaus, flags, drapery, and mirrors, the reeult being effective in the extreme. Two massive gold pillars on. the stage, canopied with the mystic Mlasonic symbols proclaimed the nature of -the function, the whole effect being heightened by the handsome regalia and insignia of office, worn by the brethren and masters. About 90 couples were present, and although dancing room was certainly at a- premium, the slight inconveniences were overlooked in the general enjoyment. The musio by Booth's band was an important, factor in the success of the evening and was characteristically j excellent. The supper appointments ■ were out a very lavish scale, a depar- | ture being made by adjourning to the Brian Born Hotel, which permitted of more facilities in the way of accommodation than are available at the Hall.
