VICTORIA.
It w«e reported this morning that a new reef had been cut in the Vio tor?a mine at the No. i level, and tlhe news pi'oved to be correct. The manager (Mr Thos. Moyle) wired to x\.uckland to the effect that a quartz formation had been • intersected but that bo far it was not very promising. It is premature to say what the formation may develop into, but no sign: of gold has been seen. The crosscut being pushed ahead with the object of intersecting the Waiotahi reef is now about 480 ft from the shaft with another 300 ft to drive to get to the point at which it is anticipated the reef will be intersected.
