MEMORIAL TO TROOPERS.
INVERCARGILL, Sept, 23. A public meeting decided to erect a memorial to the Southland troopers who fell in South Africa. The Mayor stated there was over £2000 to the credit of the patriotic; fund, but the opinion, was strongly expressed that it should Tiot be touched, as that from one to two thousand could be raised fo>r the memorial. Competitive designs are to be called for. INVERCARGILL, Sept. 23. The weather continues bitterly cold with snow and hail.
