OPENING CONCERT POSTPONED. (Per Press Association.—Copyright.) SYDNEY, September 20. Melba, prior to her departure last nights sent a message, to the people of Melbourne saying she felt she would not bo doing them justice if she appeared while affected by excitement of the train journey and the reunion with her father after such a long separation, and that also she would not be doing justice to herself aud her reputation. Consequently she felt compelled, to postpone her first concert in Melbourne from the 24th to the 27th. A GREAT RECEPTION. MELBOURNE, September 21. The Mayor and Mayoress and a, representative gathering received Madame Melba. Great crowds lined, the streets, and enthusiastically welcomed; her. There were many floral offerings.
