I would advise the Premier to create three or four more portfolios and dangle them like n bunch of carrots before honourable members. If ever I become Premier—and there is no knowing what may happen—l will always keep several portfolios vacant, and I will say, "You must not play the silly goat, or you will not get one of these portfolios," and thus I will keep these members in order.—Mr Synies.
Man sheds his skin just as thoroughly as any of the lower orders of creation, but he does it more slowly and imperceptibly. The cells whica compose the lower layer of the skin are perpetually renewed and pushed upwards, and the outer layer must be constantly removed. This process, which is termed "desquamation,' is' absolutely requisite to the health and beauty of the skin. The more rapidly this process is carried on the more clear and transparent becomes the skin and the more roseate and velvety the tissues which are constantly forming below.
