The financial statement shows that revenue was £4,327,000, which was short of the estimate by £267,000. j This was due to the drought and other causes, which reduced the revenue and added to the expenditure. The latter amounted to £4,855,000. The deficiency will be covered by treasury bills with ten years currency. No action has been taken regarding, to the imposition of an income tax until after tho federal tax had been passed. There will be no further taxation at present except to increase the stamp duty on receipts to one penny on sums of ten shillings up to one pound, and two pence above that amount. The revenue next year is estimated at £3,908,000, and the expenditure at £3,387,U00.
