An Alarming Prediction.
A DELUGE NEXT DECEMBER,
; On one of the Babylonian tables ex- 1 humed from the ancient pity of JSlinsveh, and. riow in the British Museum, ia an ; inscription of surpassing interest and ..importance. It informs uV that Capricorn was tjlie ruling, sign iv the Zodiac at, the; time of the Deluge, and students of occultism and astrdndmv are "now discussing the question whether it is reasonable to expetet: another. Deluge when the zodiacal condition are similar. Berosus, the ancient Chaldean astronomer, emphatically declared that another flood ■ would surely take place whenever the moon, sun, and planets aagin occupied the sign of Capricorn. That this! strange prediction is of unusual' interest to persons now living is evident from the fact thatj in December, 1901, the sun, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn •will be located in the sign of Capricorn, as required by Berosus, while the moon and Neptune will be in the ppposSte sign—r-Cancetr—towards the end of the' iojiiniiL - ' ' . It may. be argued ithat' the conditions at that time will not be exactly the same as tfcose which prevailed at the time of, the Deluge, since neither Venue, Herschel,, Neptune', 1 toot jfche moon will be in Capricorns The reply to this is that Herschel and Neptune were unknown at ijhe time of. the Deluge, and that, consequently, even' if they had been in "Capricorn, neither': Berosua nor any other ■ astronomor could have chronicled the; fact.
The Copenhagen, correspondent of the' Morning Leader on; April 10th Jthat during General Booth's stay at Stockholm the police learned that a plot had been, set on foot ;o Jjnurdept fthe /General, b^it( that its execution was deferred, until h& . went rto Gene, a little town 'in North Sweden. Tlie-police and,the soldiers of the Salvation Army, however, carefully guarded the General, and his visit to Sweden passed off without accident.
