RECEPTION AT NEW PLYMOUTH.

NEW PLYMOUTH, February 23.

The reception of the' Indian troops was spoilt by the heavy rain which continued all day. An enormous number of country people'were in town, and were greatly disappointed. The troops had a recep tion in the drill hall, which was largely attended.

Tho Mayor entertained the Premier and the visiting officers, including Col. Pole Penton and staff at luncheon.

Captain Campbell replied to the toast of the Indian troops.

. The troops leave far Wellington at 7 on Sunday morning.

February 24.

Last night Captain Campbell (Indian officer) was presented by the Mayor, on behalf of admirers, with a handsome kiwi mab, and also with a honeysuckle stick. Colonel Dadbha was presented with a greenstone earring.

The Indian contingent left here at 7.30 this morning, accompanied by the Premier. The Mayor and ai large number of citizens and volunteers were present, and gave them a good send off.
