The Federation Oommissioners opened their Wellington sittings this morning. '

As the Hon. Mr Bolleston is detained in Auckland it was agreed to accept a written statement of his views.

- Mr Nicholas Keid^ -'the - Chairman of the Wellington, Chamber- of Commerce deposed he was not in favor of federation., because the loss of self-government would fairly outweigh, any advantages to be gained and the revenue of the. colony would bo reduced on many products in which we could not compete with ■ Australia.
