LEADERS.
RAIDS ON UNFRIENDLY COLONISTS
LONDON, February 22.
Louis Botha on ■ the 10th inst. recommended his followers never to surrender. He would continue to lead them while 500 of them were'left. The burghers replied that it was difficult to continue the struggle. Their ammunition was almost exhausted, and the British were destroying crops and food. Botha replied that the Lord would provide everything. Steyn and De Wet have issued a fierce proclamation, dated January 14th, denying that the war had ended, and urging'retaliation for farm burning, and reiterating the lies as regards the outrages upon Boer women by the British. They advocated raids upon the unfriendly colonists.
