A hundred and fifty; prisoners, chiefly captured during Ihe op;-ri'lions against Di Wet in South Thabunchu, h&vo arr.vcd at
'Capetown.' The Boers in the early morning surprised Helvetia, rushing four points, with seven guns. Later the British at Swartzkopjes shelled the enemy, out of Helvetia.
Tho Boers surrounded and captured a gun with their captives, and -withdrew it. No ammunition .was captured.
CAPETOWN, December 31,

LONDON, December 31. vDe Lisle defeated the Boers eighteen miles ■ westward of De Aar. He captured a number of wagons, and released the Capo police belonging to Pbilipstown.
