THE PRISONER SCHIEL,
DARING ATTEMPT TO ESCAPE,
A LETTER THAT WENT ASTRAY.
LONDON, April 16,
Schiel and two other Boer prisoners are confined in St. Helena citadel owing to ha.ving made a. daring attempt t)o escape aboard a Dutch cruiser lying in th.o harbor.
Colonel Schiel bribed a boatman to carry a letter to a Dutch cruiser. By mistake, the boatman delivered it to H.M.S. Niobe.
