Hauraki Rifles Band.
THEIB TRIP TO AUCKLAND.
This popular band have had a right royal time during their trip to Auckland, and wherever they went their playing impressed their auditors most favorably, so that any futiurel visits of the band toi Aucklandl are sure to be warmly welcomed.
The band had a very pleasant trip to town on Saturday night, andj played a few selections on the way. They were met on the wharf by a number of the Hauraki Rifles', and other, companies, and marched up Queen sitreet as far as Victoria street, where the band by request gave a short concert, for which they were loudly applauded by the large concourse of people that assembled there. At the close of the concert ringing cheers were given for the Hauraki Band, and they were congratulafed on all sides on the merit of the performance.
After; playing "God Save the Queen," the band marched to the Devonport Ferry Company's wharf, and embarked for the Shore; where they were entertained at the Flagstaff Hotel, by genial hosti Delaney. They returned to Auckland by the* 8 o^clock boat on Sunday morning, and proceeded by brake (kindly provided by the Hauraki Rifles) to One Tree Hill camp, and headed the So. 2 battalion, to church parade at Potter'a Paddock, after, which, they headed the battalion back to One Tree" Hill, where! they! were entertained at lunch by the 1 officers and men of the No. 2 battalion.
During the'afternoon the band gave a sacred concert) in! the camp, and were heartily thanked by the Mayor of Onehungai (Dr. Ergon) and the officers of the No. 2 battalion, for the' eojoyable treat they provided. :
The band returned by the Wakatere yesterday morning, enlivening tha trip down for the crowd of excursionists on board, with some bright and sparkling music.
The band have to congratulate themselves on the enthusiastic, and cordial reception they received everywhere they went, and have decided on the invitation of several prominent citizens of Auckland, tO make another trip in w very short time, and give a concert in the Alberti Park.
