THE ROUGH RIDERS.
DONATION BY A MEMBER OF LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL WELLINGTON, Jan. 30. The Premier has received a cable from the Agent-General that Hon.' Richard Oliver, M.L.C., has donated £100 to the New Zealand Rough Riders' fund.

An enthusiastic public meeting to ii.ght formally stamped with approval iho proposal to contribute' their quoti; t> the Rough Riders, and fixed the minimum number a.t twenty-five, exclusive of the Wanganui, with more, ii the funds ;>re forthcoming.
Mr. Duncan announced that ShawSaville would give £1000 to the fund—£2oo for Wellington, £200 foils apier, £100 for Wanganui; the remainder yet to be allocated.
In addition to this over £350 was-, subscribed in the room. Levin and Co. contributed £100, and G. S. Johii Plimmer £100. Committees were ap pointed to select the men, etc. An oli'er was received from five ladies to go as nurses.
