A FRENCH ESCAPEE.
BRISBANE, June 27
Jean Favre, a Frenchman, swam ashore at Jakertoan. He stated that his vessel, a sailing craft called the Figaro, left Barcelona on March 4 for Tahiti, in command of Captain Domingo and five of a crew. They intended pearling, but were wrecked last Monday near Burdekin. There is a suspicion that the man is a French escapee frcfm New Caledonia.
