AUCKLAND, June 26 SHOCKING ACCIDENT.

A shocking accident on Saturday befel a young pained Poole, a son of one of the captains on the Birkenhead ferry service, while employed at the Chelsea Sugar Works. The un- ! fortunate youti foil into a tank <-f boiling water, and sustained terrible injuries to his head, face and one of his arms. The arm was injured in the effort to save himself from being co/npletely immersed. He wag immediately taken to the Auckland Hospital, where he now lies in a critical condition. The incident becomes all the more sad when it is known that only on Wednesday last a younger brother was buried, whose death was the result of an injury to the knee. The knee was cut with a stone, and ' poisoning set in, necessitating the deputation of the leg. The operation, however, failed to.save the patient's life.
