By the steatiner Birksgate, which arrived from Fiji on June 11, quite a number of Fijian teachers, with thenwives and families, arrived in Sydney. Fro|m twentymo twenty-four souls attached to the Wesleyan Mission were en route to New Guinea to strengthen th© mission- fold in that quarter of the globe. Another contingent of fourteen natives, under the immediate supervision of Bishop Vidal, were proceeding to th© Solomon Islands to reinforce the Roman Catholic mission stations located in those islands.
A. seven-months' pig, killed al Woodville, weighed exactly 217 pounds. Another pig, eleven months' old, turned the scale at 305 pounds.
