Accidention the Marototo.
Paeroa, December 21
News reached Paeroa this afternoon that a serious accident had occurred on the Marototo road today, a man named R Bonnison having been very badly injured. The information received was very meagre, but it appears that Bonnison, who was a driver, em- / ployed by Messrs Hague-Smith and Co., left Paeroa this morning with a waggon load of stuff for the Waitekauri Extended, and was picked up on the road in an insensible condition. It seemed as if he had fallen off the waggon, which had passed over his body. Assistance from Paeroa was obtained, and a buggy was sent out for him, but owing to the bad state of the road the buggy broke down. Mr Walter Smith (manager for Messrs Hague.Smirhand Co.) then had another conveyance despatched from Hikutaia, but at the time of telegraphing the injured man had not been brought into town, consequently the extent of his injuries is yet unknown.
