MINING NEWS.
The monthly crushing of 95 tons from all part* of the mins gave the payable return of 1540zs retorted gold, KUBANUICALEDONIAN. Crushing operations at the above company's battery were resumed this morning. CARDIGAN. Is will be remembered by our readers that the above company treated a trial parcel of 20 loads of ore at the May Queen, battery last week. The result of this crushing was made known this morning, and it is very gratifying indeed to learn that the return from this parcel is such an excellent one. The 20 loads in question yielded 7loa» sdwts of gold, valued at £190 6s. , NEW WHAU, Good progress is being made in the development work at this mice. Since resuming operations the drive has been extended a distance of about 45 feet, as well as the winze bel»w thie drive being cleaned out. Stripping the lode in the drive is now in progress. Since the reef has picked up this side of the "break" Lo gold has been seen in it, but the lode is now improving and it is anticipated that better result* will be met with as- it is driven «a. The xeef is now encased in a country of a rather hard character. Work ia the winze has been suspended for tk« present.
