Earthquake Shocks.

Hastings July 5,

There was a violent shock of earthquake about 4.15 this morning which lasted severtlsecondsand causeda good deal of alarm. The direction was apparently north and south. Napikr July 5. A very Bevere shock of earthquake was felt at 4.25 chid morning. Wellington, July 5.

The earthquake shock, which was felt at Napier, does not appear to have been noticed in Wellington, although the araeometer at the Museum records a slight movement.
