The evidence of the woman who made the charges of immorality against Mr Carruthere, Miaister Vf 'Land?, lias been published. She charges Mr Carruthers with ruining her about 1885.

Evidence was calletj. to show that the woman was in the habit of frequenting places of evil repute. Mr Carruthers totally denied the charges. He admitted advancing the woman £10 to enable her to purchase a small business, but the act was purely one of generosity. Since then she had endeavoured to blackmail him.
