The results of the licensing poll are:—Temperance: Chapman 340, Clapthane 376, Leadley 346, Taylor 300, Williamson 370; Moderate: McFarlane 547, McLean 647, Scaly 573, McGuilkin 556, Thomas 616. The Ashburton Courthouse, Mayfield, and Green street returns are still to come in, but the Moderate ticket is certain to be returned. Very keen interest was taken in the election.
