THE AUCKLAND MATCHES.

(BY TELEGKAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Auckland, May 16,

The championship fixtures were continued this afternoon, the teams competing being Graf ton v. Ponsouby, City v. Suburbs, and Newton v. North Shore. Some remarkably big scoring was made, Grafton securing 18 points to Ponsonby nil, Newton 31 to North Shore 3, and City 21 to Suburbs 3. Grafton's victory was rather a surprise, as the Club ■was minus several of its veteran players, but it has no »v been proved that some of the new seniors are real good men. Newton seems to be able to put a better team into the field than last year.
