A Negro Temperance Orator

Auckland, April 10. A meeting of the Auckland Prohibition League was held last eveningl at the United Free Methodist Church. The Eev. A. Peters presided. It was resolved to co-operate with the Southern Leagfues in bringing out the Rev. J. H. Hector, of the Methodist Church of Canada, who proposes visiting' I^ew Zealand to lecture on temperance. Mr Hector is a negro, and fought in the American Civil War. He is a present holding an ap • pointment from the Methodist Church Conference as travelling temperance' evangelist.
