AUSTRALIAN.
Sydney, This day
It was recently 6tate3 that the French Government had decided to discontinue sending convicts to New Caledonia. It now transpires, however, that preparations are being made in France to send another consignment of prisoners by transport to New Caledonia, which, it is understood, left France on June 11th. It is mentioned that the despatch of this lot was unavoidable, as they are required to complete a new penal station. Hobakt, This day.
The Government intend to propose an unimproved land tax of three farthings in the £.
