THAMES POULTRY CLUB.
The adjourned meeting of gentlemen in favour of the establishment of a Poultry Club hero' was hdd in the Borough Council Chambers on Saturday niglit. There was a pood attendance of fanciers, Mr W. H. Bagnall was voted to the chair, Mr Honiss, who acted as Secretary, read the minutes of the first meeting, and the Chairman in a few words spoke of the great benefit such societies were in the way not only of keeping up and improving the host breeds of fowls, but as affording a v( ry fleasant hobby and occupation for the leisure moments of our citizens. Mr Bavnall recommended that a start be made in a modest way to allow the inslitntion to grow slowly but surely. Be proposed that such a club be formed to be called "The Thames Poultry, Pi«eon and Canary Fancif rs Club." Mr "Scott seconded. Mr Greeuslade, in Support* ing the motion, said that while in Auckland lately he hnd talked the matter over with the fanciers there, who would most cheei fully assist the Thames ppople in any way that would help on the formation and progress of the new Club. The resolution was carried unanimously. The following officers were then appointed :—Patron, Mr MeGowan, M.H.8.; vice-Patrons, Messrs Bagnall, Dnnlop, J. H. Smith, A. Price, A. Smith (Bank of New Zealand) and Dr. Payne; President, the Msyor (Mr Kadford) ; vice-Presidents, the Hon. W. McCullough,andMessrsEhrenfried,L. J. Bagnall, McLaren, A. Kidd.B. McDonald Scott, J. Macfarlane, W.Burton, G.Price, J. Watson, J. Frater, Dr. Williams, Dr. Callan, and L. Melhose; Committee, Messrs W. H. Bagnall. McDuff, B. N. Smith, W. Scott, M. O'Keefe, Mclntyre, W. May, T. A. Dunlop, H.J. Greenslade, Honiss, J.Darrow, C. J. Winder, and W. Coad, with povver to add to their number; Treasurer, Mr G.E. Buckland; Secretary, Mr W. Smith. Messrs Dunlop, Scott, and Bagnall were appointed a sub-committee to draw up rules, etc., to be presented at the next meeting a fortnight hence. The gentlemen who kindly came down from Auckland last week and were unfortunately prevented from landing were thanked for their good intentions, and were appointed honorary corresponding members. Their names are—Messrs Phillips, Todd, Patterson, Bach, Taylor, and McEnteer. It is not intended to hold a Show this year, as it is now too late to arrange for one in the proper season. Ample time will thus be given for our fanciers to prepare for a really good opening Show, and start the Club off with flying colours.
