(Per I?beß9 Assoolaiiom.)
Sydney, June 28.
Sir H. f arkes presided at the meeting of the Federal Party this evening, at which the programme was' adopted to make federation a constant and supreme object of political life in the future, and to foster the idea that the National Government should be invested with the sole power to impose customs duties. The other planks adopted were promotion of domestic legislation to advance the internal interests of the colony, abolition of patronage combined with economy in the civil service, prevention of the influx of inferior races. ' - An explanatory note added that im the matter of taxation the accqm plishment of federation will compel a resort to direct taxation for the purposes of the State Government in supplementation of the proportional Bams received from the federal customs revenue. f Meantime other matters of more I urgency to meet the wants of the people demand immediate attention. w A strong committee was forme""' and it was decided to make federation a feature of the elections.
