The Herald says the Commission in restoring Dean to liberty will certainly give relief to public feeling, and will perhaps supply a weighty reminder of the necessity of great caution and thoroughness in the investigation by those responsible for the administration of justice. The Telegraph states that the release of Dean rectifies as far as possible one of the most seiious mistakes ever made by the administration of just'ee in this colony. Later.
Dean, addressing the committee who had worked hard for his release, declared his innocence, and he hoped to prove that their confidence had not beci misplaced, JJ
