FIRE IN AUCKLAND
£30 STOLEN. (By Telegraph.—Own Coruesfonde.nt.) «, Auckland, This day. About 10 o'clock Jast night a fire broke out in a house in Parliament street, occupied by Mr William Brown. ' It appears'that Mrs Brown had retired shortly after nine leaving a quantity of clothes drying before the oolonialoven, which had a large fire on the top. One of the children awoke about three-quarters of an ho ir later, and found the room tilled with smoke. She called her mother, who with difficulty made her way out of the house with her two children. Two men natne.l Roberta in and Dawson were passing, and, noticing the fire, with the assistance of others, successfully extinguished the flames. Mrs Brown says that during the excitement some person stole £30 which she bad in her hand. I
