VICTORIA.
This company's operation? are solely confined to the Tookej's section of the property, and up to the present have nol been attended with the same amount o( success as has been bestowed on otber properties working near the company's arc». However, it is a lony lane Uiat has no turning, and 'he day may not be far distant when the Victoria will yet its turn of good things that Nature has awa<ting for up. Siuee the men were removed from the Saxon section to the Tookey, vigorous exploring operations have been prosecuted at, the 100 foot level. Driving westward on the supposed continuation of CJeave's tribute Jeadcr : The success attending this work has so far been unproductive. From a point where the clay bank separates the leader at the boundary of the tribute block, the level has been driven a further distance of 30ft on the leader, which shows a thickness of 6 inches and is charged with excellent mineral indications. Westward from the present face what U known aa MuKenzie's fault will be met with in another 30ft of dti»intr. On this identical fault, or near it, Mr McKenzie had the pleasure of mining a great amount of excellent ore, and if the country in the face of this present level would give place to a more congenial class, I have no doubt a change for the better would be at once in evidence in the lode. Another important work is also being pushed ahead on what it known as the No. 1 or " Blue" reef. The form of operation is rising on the reef from the No. 1 level. The rise has now attained a height of 25 feet, and the lode shows a combined thickness of 2ft of solid quartz, charged with splendid minerals, in which a few colours of gold are occasionally seen. lam informed that this lode is quite intact, and if at all payable there is every probability of a good block being opened up in this direction. Tribute parties can bs found almost in every part of the mine, all of whom are diligently searching for the precious metal. Cleave and party still continue to obtain ore of a highly remunerative and the same remark applies to other parties ia the various Motion*,
