A desperado named Mitchell was about to be arrested in a crowded waiting room at Houston railway station, Texas, when he opened fire on the constable. Shots were returned, until the constable and two spectators were killed, besides three others mortally wounded, including two men. The crowd was furious afc the unnecessary bloodshed, and nearly lynched Mitchell.
