Messrs Reynolds and Stevens also supported the action of the Goverament. The latter, however, expressed a hope that the present action of the Legislature would not be token aa a precedent that an irredeemable papar currency should be accepted by the Legislature on any future occasion. Tlgp second reading was then agreed to. The Bill'was then committed, reported without amendments, and passed its final stages. Hie Bank and Bankers Act Amendment Bill was also received from the Lower House, and read a first time, and at 10.35 p.m the Council adjourned till Tuesday next.
