SIR ROBERT STOUT LIKELY TO RE-ENTER POLITICS.
Nelson, This day, | It is stated here that throughout the Inangahua electorate requisitions are in course of signature asking Sir Robt Stout to become a condidate for that seat, and that Mr R. H. J. Reeves is supporting the requisitions being sent. The opinions ex-j pressed are very favorable to Sir Robert Stout. . !
[It will be recollected that Mr Reeves, M.il.R. for. Inangahua, was recently declared a bankrupt.]
Auckland, This day. . The Trade and Labor Council wired to Mrs Ballance: —" We desire to express our deep sympathy with you in your loss— a statesman, a warm friend, and a gentle* man New Zealand has to mourn." The Knights of Labor telegraphed to Mrs Ballance :—" We desire to express sympathy with you in your bereavement May the Lord strengthen you in this time of trouble." At the City and Suburban Council meetings feeling reference was made to the! death of the Premier. Several Auckland members leave to-day for Wanganui to attend the funeral. The flags on the shipping and about town are half-mast high.
