CRICKET.
Thames v. Taraell XI.
The cricket match between Thames and Patnell 11. was played in the Auckland Domain yesterday. Gt. Wiggins was chosen captain of the Thames team, and, winning the toss, sent Parnell in to bat, to the bowling of "Peel and Buchan. They made a good stand, Brown (capt.) 24 and Speight 27 batting well for their side. The following are the scores: — Pakheli, Ist innings.—Brown, c F. Billings b A. Lang, 24; A. Hay, b Peel,o; Speight, b Peel, 27 ; Buchan, b A. Lang, 0; Edmonds,,b Peel, 7; Kydd, bPeel, 6; Kyburn, c A. Billings, b Peel, 9; McMillan, c and b Howe, 0: Saddler, b Peel, 0; Barber, b Eowe, 1; Thomas, not out, 0; byes, 6; total, 84. On the Thames going to the wickets they soon came to grief for 53, J. Lang (22) being the top scorer. The fielding of the Thames boys was very bad with the exception of one or two. The ground was very bumpy, and three or four accidents occurred, but happily none were very serious. Speight bowled well for the Parnell team, getting 7 wickets for 18 runs.
