AUCKLAND.—This day.
The Herald publishes another letter from Dr. Pollen on the native land difficulty, and gives a leader upon the subject. Dr. Pollen advocates a tax on native lands.
The- Wednesday half-holiday is breaking up. Many who agreed are withdrawing, and they will give their employes a holiday in rotation. The Charitable Aid Board is awakening to, the fact that the arrivals from the other colonies may be destitute and fall upon the Bard for support, and the law will be enforced upon shipping companies The' cheap fares are encouraging all sorts and conditions of men to visit our shores.
The community is not likely to be in want of information on medical and physi logical subjects, for at present two travelling doctors are advertising free lectures, —one a lady.
