LAND AND INCOME ASSESSMENT ACT.
MEETING OF THE BOARD OF REVIEW. The Board of Review of Assessments for the Thames County commenced its sittings in the Masonic Hall, Queea street, at 10 a.m. to-day before Messrs A. Brodie (Chairman), Jas McGrowan, and E. T. Douglas. The Chairman said that through some mistake or neglect the Thames County^ papers were addressed " Tauranga County," and vice versa, and as a natural consequence the Thames papers were now at Tauranga, but were expected here to* night. This boing the case, the question arose as to whether the Board should proceed with the business. Mr Duncan, Inspector under the Assessment Act, said that all that was absent was the list of objections lodged by the objectors, The business, however, could be proceeded with notwithstanding this. The Chairman here announced that the Board had decided not to grant expenses on either side. If, however, any person came from a longdistance, and considered that he had a grievance, he could approach the Commissioners, when the matter would doubtless receive due attention.
