Montague - Turner English Opera Company.

Next Monday will initiate the opera season by the production of the timehonored musical composition," Maritana," which still ra]?-B despotically over the minds and hearts of music lovers all over tbe English speaking world. The Maritana of Miss Annia Montague is ideal in its conception, and (to quote the Sydney Morning Herald) " The intense esprossion she throws into 'Til tbo Harp in the Air,' is overpowering, whilst her enunciation and iatonation are most delicately perfect." D*-n Caesar do Bazan receives a new reading at tho hands of Mr Charles Turner. He shirks none of tbe music, the opening in that most trying cavntina " All the World Over," which gives the key note to Don Ctesar's character, but which is avoided by other tenors as bsing of too difficult a character. Mr Edward Farley's Don Jose has always been locked upon as one of his masterpieces, and he renders the aria, " No, My Courage," with the most ardent spirit. Miss E. A. Lumberl's Lazarillo h&s for years been considered a perfect representation, whilst her song, " Alas, Those Chimes," never fails to create a powerful effect ou her auditors. The other characters ia " Marituna" Bre all capably filled, so (bat on Monday night we expect to sea tho Academy of Musio filled with an enthusiastic audience.
