Drastic Liquor Legislation.
The legislature of Mississippi State has passed a stringent Jaw with the object of abolishing saloons in small towns and bringing the liquor trade in largo towns under better control. It is enacted that no saloon-keeper shall sit on a grand jury, and that any saloon-keeper called to sit on a common jury may be challenged because oF hia occupation. The minimum hoenso fee in rural parts is £140. and in towns with 2000 or more inhabitants it is £300, Any saloon keeper who allows a minor to enter his doors incurs heaty penalties.
