(Pkb Pbicss Association). AUCKLAND.—This day. John Wilson was committed for trial at the Police Court to-day for stealing tbree altar cloths from St. Patrick's Cathedral. Peroy Langton was fined £4 for a breach of the Animals Protection Act by haying in bis possession seven dead hen pheasants with intent to dispose of same.
WELLINGTON.—Last night. The Licensing Conference. The Licensed Victuallers' Conference to-day adopted a draft Bill for presentation to Parliament, the clause dealing with, compensation for licenses refused being struck out. The chief provisions are-—appeal from the decisions of the Committee, and a better definition of the powers of the Licensing Bench. The Conference has closed its sittings. Obituary. The Hon. Capt. Fraser, M.L.C., who has been ailing for some time, died this afternoon.
DUNEDIN.-This day. The monument to the memory of the late Mr Macandrew has arrived and will be unveiled on July 4 in front of the railway station. It is a marble bust over life size.
