: LONE HAND. Crashing will be commenced early next week. MAY QUEEN. '. The break should now soon be to hand at the new. or No. 2, level, The winza on the No. 4 footwall branch at No. 1 lerel has attained a-depth of 12ft, and colors of gold are freely seen when breaking down the lead, which is 3in thick. DIVES. The manager reports:—" During the past week the rise has been put up sufficiently high to break off another Btope, but the reef has not yet been broken down; from it about 12ft of the reef has been stripped. la ttie back stope also the quartz is still standing, about 10ft having been stripped, which will be broken down early in the prcsont week. Iv the second stope, about 9ft of the lode has been stripped and broken down ; ju3t now it is split' up into three distinct leaders, divided by abont 8 or 9 inches of soadstone. Gold is seen in each, and the. mineral indications are of a very favorable kind. In the third stope there is about 6 inches of crushing dirt, most of which is solid quartz ; some very good colors of good have been seen in it, with a pound or two of picked stone bagged. A length of lift has been broken down here. All through tho stopes the country is of a first-class description for gold. The crosscut on main flinty has been extended 9ft for the week; the country all through is still very tight, but is a better class of sandstone, and is evidently improving. On hand to date: 12 loads of general dirt and 131bs of picked stone—John Williams." : CAMBRIA. Operations in, this mine are proceeding much the same as usual. At No. 2 level the drive from the rise on the main reef is in a distance of 17ft- Only about 2ft of the hangiogwall portion of tha reef, which carries favorable minerals, and looks very well, is being broken, The manager expects to moot the cross-leader in another Bft more of driving. later* mediate below No. 2 level: The new loader, or the leader going towards the main reef, has ohanged its course and underlie, and has now the same strike and dip as the main:reef, The quartz coming to hand shows a little gold. A leading stope will be started over this drive some time next week. There is nothing new to report from tho slopes Tin the different leaders above this level; they still continue to yield good crushing dirt. No. 3 level: Two or three pounds of fair picked stone have, been saved from the stope on No. 7 footwall branch, whilst gold is also seen freely through the quartz; the leader at present will average about 8, inches in thickness. The three leaders in the stope qn the western branch of No. 7/ are still turning out good crushing dirt, and occasionally a few pounds of picked •tone are saved.
