SCHOOL OF MINES EXAMINATION.
[To the Editor of tbe Evening- Stab ] Sib, —In reply to " Afternoon Shift" I bep to inform him that the Committee of the School of-Mines would have been oul? too glad to have been able to meet hie wishes, but it was found imperative to hold one examination only in each of tbe subjects bo as to preserve the secrecy of the examination papers. If there were two examinations this would be impossible, aa tboee first ezamioed could give their unexamined friends the text of the questions, and thuc give them a great advantage over their fellow students. I do not say any person would do it, bat it is the Committee's duty to prevent a possibility 0/ aueh an oceayrenee. The fixing of the evening for the examination was because it was found that the hour was suitable- >\>r- over 90 per cent, of the pupils. —I rdi, #e,j AXiSSSf Bwcv, Secretary.
