. NEW PLYMOUTH.—This day. There was a curious case at tbe Jbtesident Magistrate's Court this morning, arising out of a civil case heard in tbe District Court the other day, when a plaintiff named MoLaunblan sought to recover £11 for a breech of a covenant lease from Martin Petrie. Judgment was then given for the defendant, and MoLaughlan now charges Martin Petrie and his mother, Jessie Petrie, with corrupt perjury; and on the other side Albert Kdward Nelson, a witness for plaintiff, and James MoLongblan, tbe pl-iutiff, are also charged with perjury. In the evidence they gave it seems that MoLaajjhlan subpcs asi the District Judge, who is holding a District Court at Wanganui to-day. Tbe Judge left a letter saying that he could not wait in New Plymouth, as he had witnesses and jury* men waiting at Wanganui, and the Court there could sot bo adjourned. Morcorer,

he ihoaght his attendance to give evidence whs not necessary, as th* Clerk of the Court oould give all information required, and all !-virl«nce was taken down in the cisc of M cLiughlan. The Justices on the Bench artj turned the case till Monday, to enable District Judge Eawson to be iv attendance.
