A. miserly old man lived with bit son, who was somewhat of a reprobate. The •on turned seriously ill one day, and the symptoms proving very alarming, a doctor was grudgingly sent for. The doctor srrired in due time, and stooping over the young msn began to sound him with his sti tbo*cope, when he was interrupted by the father. ' Noo, doctor,' he sail, 'before gaun ony farrer, lat me say this, gin ye think he's no worth repairin' dimi put cot muckle expense upon him.'
