(To the Editor of Evranta Stab.) $«.—Your correspondent " Oheltamer reasons from false premises, consequently he is all astray in his conclusions; 1 He affirms that Mr Taylor said " Enos is more properly Enoch." Mr Taylor said nothing of the kind; he did hot use the word Enoch, but Enosh«Hebrew. I heard Mr Taylor with feelings approaching delight, and thank God we have got amongst this crooked and perverse generation of Thames Pharisees a bold and unflinching champion of Bible truth. I could appreciate his sterling discourse, baring been a lifelong Bible student, and hating learned the fact of man's mortality from the teachings of its inspired writer/, and I affirm, without fear~.of intelligent controversy, ?.hat these writing! throturhont unmistakably proclaim his present life JJ ni J;, m«*J aI F^ d not immortal. name Enosh is "mortal man, sick, despaired of;" " son of Adam, or of earthly mortal man." Genesis ir 26v is a leading, or foundation, passage to establish the * mortality of the race of Adam, and no Other p*fli!»Se can f°UDd either to qualify or contradict it. None hare as yet eaten of the tree of life but Christ, the advocate and redeemer of the race, and none hare become immortal but Himself, neither can any become immortal except through a new birth.at their resurrtction. Some are begotten to this lively ■ hone, and hare the faith of the first resarrection (new birth) now, a very near erent Thousands upon thousands of believers in the Christ of all preTious times and dispensations — the heroes and martyrs for His causeawait the words " Come forth' of H)m who triumphed over death and the grave, and who is to all such the resurrection and the life eternal, and to all others now who put their trust in Him also. There is no hope of life and immortality in any other. Plato, Pythagorus and others are nowhere, in the light of the teachings of patriarchs, prophets, and apostles. Now if •• Oheltamer" professes to be a teacher of Bible verities, which. I presume he does, he ought to know that the foregoing are facts, incontrovertable facts, and that he is not fit to hold his position nnless he proclaims them to mankind. To make a lame attempt at picking a hole in the coat of one who does unflinching proclaim them ii a mean action. But this is generally the proceeding of the admirers of heathen philosophers; these are the pharisees of I to-day, so what can you expect of them? However, such conduct will have no weight with real Bible enquirers, such will not be satisfied with garbled Etatements, they seek after truth, and are determined to find it at any cost. They care not for " dumb dogs" who cannot bark a noble bark, Isaiah 56, v. 10 to 12, but can only growl and snarl and snap at the heels of such as are their masters in Bible verities. Of this sort of treatment both myself and Mr Taylor have had onr share. But such are afraid to face this gentleman like men. He has several times thrown down the gauntlet, but none dare take it up and defend their position from a Bible standpoint alone, because they know the weakness of their fortress. They know full-well that Platoism must fall before Bible truth, and with as great • fall as did the god Dagoa of the Philistines before the ark of God, the Supreme. Platoism is a Satanic device, it has deceived all Christendom, the Bible knows nothing of the monster; those therefore who are still determined to adhere to this Satanic lie, must be either " pious frauds," or are grossly ignorant of the contents of the book of all books regarding man's mortality. " Oheltamer" I perceive is a believer in the majority buing right, when if he had studied his Bible upon this point alone, he would have fonnd out that in matters of truth and righteousness the minority were always right, the majority never.—lam, &»., Bbmatleho.
