who is at present at Berlin attending the Telegraph Conference,'telegraphs to the Government that he does not anticipate any difficulty in obtaining a reduction of the ordinary tariff on cable messages between Europe and Australia, but states that he is doubtful whether the reduction desired in Press rates will be acceded to.

The torpedoes laid down in Port Jackson during the recent crisis have now been removed from the harbor.
Sailed, this afternoon : The Union Co.'s Wairarapa, for Auckland. Adelaide, Yesterday.
Arrived, this morning : The Orient Co.'s Garonne, with London mails to July 17.
Shipping wheat is quiet at 3s lOd to 3s lid per bushel; Adelaide town flour, £8 12s 6d to £9 per ton ; country do., £7 15s to £8 per ton.
