SOME patients suffering from nervous affections are afraid from sheer bashfulness and modesty to pebsonally consult a medical man—-other patients hare not the self-possession and coolness when in the con* suiting room, to accurately describe their ajmptoms —their habits of life, and the nature of the disease they suffer from. Let euch persons (he or she) git quietly down in the privacy of their own apartments, and with calm minds describe clearly eaoh symptom of their case, a clear statement thus writton, and laid before me is, far preferable in kbbvous diseases to a personal consultation. Where, however, a disease is of a peculiar and exceptional character, a personal consultation may become necessary ; but my success in correspondence ia so great, that of the thousands upon thousands whom I have treated by letter during the last 32 years, not a single mistake lias ever occurred, not a case has ever been made public—in fact the very simplicity of my system of correspondence prevents publicity. . At the same time medicines are sent to my patients in such a form as to defy detection. How many thousands have I not brought joy to? * Hew many have been enabled to enter into the marriage state through consulting me ? How many after marriage have privately .consulted me and been blessed and their married lives made fruitful and happy. How many wasted ruined youths of both sexes have also been restored to health, and thanked.their manhood, for having consulted me by letter. How many questions arise where the family physician is unable to unravel the case and where often the patient lingers on, not dariog to teli his family medical adviser the nature of his complaint, until consumption wasting, or mental diseases, set in and the sufferer gets beyond the curiable stage, and is left a hopeless wreck. A letter written in the privacy of the room and dropped in the poafc box reaches me quietly; the answer is returned as quietly and unostentatiously, and the patient, without stepping from his ohamber, except to post his letter, is by return of post put in full posses* sion of the nature of hie case. His hopes are rrised his doubts removed, and he is comparatively a new man; in fact, in'many cases, a new being altogether. The only addition to the ordinary writton letter is the age occupation, habits and symp* toms, nothing more. The usual consultation fee of £1 (one pound) must be> enclosed, otherwise no answer will ba returned. There are thousands of cases in daily life where a consultation with one at a distance will remove by a single letter a great fear, a great care, and ifc often solves what appears as an impenetrable mystery. Many a sad heart has been made joyful on receipt of an explanatory letter from me. To fchoso who are about to marry, I would say consult me before doiug so, and thus prevent many after troublea, and remove many unnecessary fears and prejudices ; to those, more especially, who hare suffered in early years from disease, or who have yielded to their passions. To these I say, at once, consult with me* do not tarry, delays are dangerous, and as ah expert, my time may not be always at your service, you can, by ismply enclosing one pound, have the benefit of my experience in the same manner as if I lived in your town, and with tho additional advantage of thorough privaoy.—'Yours, truly, LOUIS L. SMITH. 'Address— DEL. L. SMITH. 182 COLLINS STREET EAST Melbourne. CONSULTATION FEE BY LETTER, £1 Fee for personal Consultation, £1 1. The latter is inclusive of Medicine.
