The Calliope Dock
The question of increasing the leDgth of the Calliope dock is likely to come before the Harbor Board tomorrow. The question is raised by a letter from Mr W. Srrington, 0.E., eDgineer to the dock. It is considered that the Board will adopt the suggestions.
The Oriental Fair is considered to be a very fair specimen of an " ecclesiastical swindle." Over £1000, clear of all expenses, is said to be the result.
Mr Shcehan reached Auckland on Saturday and if time permits, intends visiting the Thames, and a portion of the Tauranga electorate before the meeting of the House.
The Herald appears desirous of working up opposition to the Government, and each issue lately has an article from its Wellington correspondent upon the position, and the tenor of each is against the Govern* ment.
