Yesterday. Suicide. About 6 tHs evening, James Carpenter (licensee of the Plough Hotel, Rangiora) was discovered banging from a blue, gum tree in a remote part of the garden attached to the hotel. He left home about half past eight the preceding evening, after having apparently spent an enjoyable day in coursing, and, as he had expressed an intention of proceeding to Christchurch the next day, his wife did not immediately institute inquiries concerning him. Mrs Carpenter received a severe shock on'discovering him this evening. The landlord deceased bears an irreproachable character, was particularly steady and sober, land what had led to the supposed suicide, cannot be*divined. An inquest will, of of course, be hqld. - •.
