Thames Goldfield Hospital.
The usual monthly meeting of the Hos pital Committee was held yesterday afternoon at the Old Men's Home. Present— Messrs Home (Treasurer), Hudson, Mulligan, McGowaD, Veale, Wilson, Frater, Eadford, Ehrenfried, Mennie, Eenshaw, MoCullough, and Ee?B. Laishley and O'Eeilly.
HOUSE COMMITTEE. The above committee recommended the payment of salaries, £70 15s, and general trade accounts, £54 19s Id. With regard to the person referred in the committee, they did not consider Peter Grain a fit person to be admitted to the Refuge, as he was in too helpless a condition to walk. They advised his retention as a patient in the hospital. The kitchen range had been attended to by Mr Ginn, and was now giving the greatest satisfaction. The report was adopted. ~ BECEIPTS AND EXPENDITURE. The financial statement was as follows : —Receipts : To subscriptions, £12 0s 6d; patients charges, £3 19s; garden, 11s 9d; Bank of Few Zealand overdraft, £440 17s 6d.~-Total, £457 8s 9d. Furniture: By bank overdraft, November Ist, £314 2a lOd; salaries, £66 7s; maintenance, £32 6s lid ; drugs and appliances, £4 4s 6d; furniture, £3 13s 6d; commission, 7s ; bedding, £18, miscellaneous expenses £14 16s lOd; balance of cash, £2 11s 3d. —Total, £457 8s 9d. Assets, Amount applied for from Government to 30th of September, £324 7s 4d; cash in band, £2 11s 3d; two month's subsidy due, £19 0s 6d. Liabilities: Bank of \New Zealand overdraft, £440 17s 6d ; salaries £70 15s; tradesmen's accounts, &c, £53 2s Id. Recaived and adopted. Horsß sukobok's bepobt. The above report suggested the advisability of appointing a wardsman who duty it would be to specially conduct the night watch. He wanted to make this suggestion, because he found that the night watchmen were in the habit of doing other work in the day, and could not therefore keep awake at night. Considerable discussion ensued, and it was ultimately decided to adopt the report, on the motion of Mr Mennie, seconded by Mr Ehrenfried, and it was decided to have the fixing of the warder's hour to the House Committee. COBBESPONDENCE. Mr A. Floyd drew attention to the distressing state of his brother, who was totally blind, and applying that he be admitted to the Old Men's Refuge.—Mr Ehrenfried supported the application, as the man was destitute of support.—The old man was in attendance, and stated his case to the Committee. He said he had a son who was working on tribute, and had kept the bouse until recently, but had now* deserted him.—Mr Mulligan said the family had almost entirely deserted the old. man.—Mr Ehrenfried thought the man should be admitted.—Mr Frater supported the application, -and moved a resolution to that effect.—Mr Renshaw seconded the resolution, and said the man's son had handed a sum of money to his mother, who had placed £42 in a dress and missed it, and suspected her husband of taking it. This was what led to the illfeeling between them.—The resolution was put to the meeting and carried. BET. V. LUBH. . This name was struck off the list of committee men, and the name of Mr W. Calder was,substituted. . , , TENDEBS. Tenders for supplies were received from the local tradesmen as follows:—Groceries: Messrs Balcke and Mears. Mr Balcke's tender was accepted.—Meat: R. Bateman, John Townsend, Dalziel, and Davies Bros.; The latter were the successful tenderers.—Bread: Messrs Rolleston and Son were the only tenderers at s£d per 41b loaf.—Mr T. Williams was the only applicant for the milk contract, at 3|d per quart.—Two tenders were received for washing, Mrs O'Brien and Mrs Clementson, the latter being accepted.— Funerals: W. Twentyman, at £2. HOUSE COMMITTEE. Messrs McGowan, McCullougb, Marshall, and Mulligan were appointed a House Committee for the ensuing year. This concluded the business.
